Psalm 139:13-16 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
Incredible man-made machines, like the automobile, require periodic checks to detect unsafe conditions and indicate preventative maintenance. The check list items include: air filter, battery, brakes, exhaust system, lights, tires, and wipers. The frequency of these tests is typically based on miles driven.
Isn’t it likely we, God’s incredible creation, need periodic checks? In a twenty-four-hour period, our mind surely travels thousands of miles.
Should we Christians, since we are high mileage beings, do a daily test on our spiritual condition and perform any preventative maintenance necessary? God, through the apostle Paul, gave us a check list to check the condition of our spiritual fruit.
Galatians 5:22-23 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
