Once at a meeting where all expenses were paid and absolutely nothing was required of any of the participants, one of the guests said to another, “isn’t this wonderful. What’s the catch?”
What’s the catch is a question about any conditions and what one must do to “pay back”, an act of grace: a gift, a favor.
Grace, created by God, is an unearned but absolutely free gift or favor. This is an allusive principle for so many. We are conditioned by the ways of the world. When we receive any alleged unearned gift and told it is free of obligation and conditions. We often think, “What’s the catch?”
The most powerful example of grace without a catch is the gift God gave us. Eternal life without a catch. A gift we could never repay. A gift without conditions. In His amazing grace, God gave us the gift of freedom of will, so we alone could make the decision if we would, or would not, accept His grace offer of salvation. The acceptance of God’s grace gift of eternal salvation comes without condition and repayment free. Once accepted, what’s the catch?.....Absolutely none.
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,” ……… Titus 2:11-12
